Whether you’re running a business or a hobby blog, you need to ensure your images are pristine and interesting. You can always achieve this by doing some edits on them.
Not sure where to start? Here are 4 great photo tricks you can use to make your photos stand out!
Take Advantage of Artificial Light
You might not be taking photos in a professional studio, but that doesn’t mean you can’t take advantage of what you’ve got lying around! Dig around in your closet for anything that can create light, such as LED lights, flashlights, and candles.
Light these light sources and place them around the subject strategically so that it’s highlighted just right. You might have to play around with the number of lights you use, as well as what settings your DSLR or smartphone camera are on.
However, experimenting can lead to some really cool photos!
Use a Tripod
Even if you’re using a smartphone camera, use a tripod when you can. This helps to stabilize the camera so you can capture the smallest of details, all without them blurring.
This also allows you to take self-portraits without the annoying “selfie arm” in the frame. It also lets you wander much farther away from the camera, as the tripod will hold it for you. All you have to do is set up a self-timer, which all smartphones should have.
Mirror Your Images
Don’t feel like you look your best in a photo? Don’t delete it just yet!
As you might already know, our faces aren’t perfectly symmetrical. This is what makes us unique and beautiful in our own ways!
So try mirroring your images to see if the fliped pictures look better. You can mirror images for free by using online tools or preinstalled photo editing programs on your computer.
Take Advantage of Filters
Now, we’re not talking about adding heavy filters as those Instagram girls do. But a light one can really make your images pop!
Take a quick browse through your preinstalled filters. If they’re too artificial and/or unnatural looking, you can always download more online. Make sure you take the time to try out each filter on your photos, as you never know what will make them really stand out.
